About Courtney
As a teacher I believe in fostering relationships with students. I am here to help you understand what you’re learning and become more comfortable with the material and how to become a better student.
I view each student as an individual who is learning at their own pace and tailor your learning to you.
I am patient, kind and understanding. When you learn with me, we work on what you need and I make sure you feel confident.

In teaching reading and comprehension I teach novel study and vocabulary. Typically I introduce vocabulary and then read stories along with the student. We answer questions based on the story then make connections in writing pieces.
For writing pieces I review the differences between informational writing, persuasive writing, and narrative writing. We discuss paragraphs and topic sentences as well as building on sentences with key details from the story.
