Native English speaker, fluent in Chinese

I enjoy getting to know each student individually and understanding how their backgrounds contribute to the way they learn. I taylor my teaching methods, strategies, and tips to what they're most comfortable and familiar with to ensure the most productive experience.

I started tutoring with Washington University through working with a professor who is passionate about improving education in St. Louis public schools.

For the past 3 years, I've tutored and taught kindergarten, 5th grade, 6th grade, and 8th grade students at low-income and inner city St. Louis schools. I tutored students in math and reading retention and worked in groups of 2-3 to teach custom lessons on design process thinking and environmental issues.

Choose a teacher with 1) test results that speak to his/her expertise and 2) teaching styles that resonate with your learning styles

One of my kindergarten students excelled at a money and budgeting related math class and proceeded to help the other 7 students in the group count and sort coins. It amazed me to see how willing she was to offer help rather than choosing to be competitive with the other kids.
