About Amelia

Students in my classes enjoy my enthusiasm and fun ways to learn. We do not do the same thing all the time, but instead mix it up with games, activities and more. Early grades are most likely to benefit from my tutoring, but older students have gained success through it as well, even college aged ones! My best subjects are spelling, early creative writing, basic grammer, reading and comprehension, basic science, and arithmetic. Does your student struggle with focusing? With my help, they will be able to put their energy to good use.

As a teacher with a passion to help struggling students, the most enjoyable part of tutoring for me is to see the light bulb go off. When the child has a breakthrough moment and we get to celebrate together, it fuels my passion even more. The student's success is my success and joy.

I worked as a kindergarten teaching assistant as a senior in highschool. This made me love teaching.

I have a B.S. in Elementary Education and have taught for 3 years in different school settings. I have assisted multiple students with tutoring to get them back up to speed after Covid.

About the lesson

First, I ask what their goal is. Then what they have done so far to reach it. I'll ask what has worked in the past, and what has not worked for them. I also want to see examples of what they are having trouble with (eg. A homework paper or project) and if available any notes their teacher has given regarding the issue.

I have worked mostly with K5-2nd graders, but have experience with all elementary grades. I have also tutored college students in basic subjects like history, grammer and science.

Details

Basic tutoring -- $20 an hr or $12 for 1/2 hr.

Homework help -- $15 an hr or $9 for 1/2 hr.

1 hr tutoring + 1/2 hr homework = $25

1 hr tutoring + 1 hr homework = $30
