About Nathan

My teaching approach:

I have constructed a curriculum based on the aspects I found worked and didn't work from a wide array of teachers I have had the benefit of learning from over the past ten years. I stress an equal emphasis on getting to the heart of the music, learning what the students wants to play, ear training, theory, jamming, and how the guitar fits in an arrangement given a particular song in a particular genre. But above all, I will get my students playing how and what they want to play.

My influences are:

John Frusciante, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Herring.

Lesson's vary depending on the level of skill and interest of student, but it generally consists of blocks of time devoted to warm-ups, technical skills, ear-training, learning songs, and playing together.
