About Kevin
Mathematics is a deep and rich subject full of fascinating connections between real-world problems. Unfortunately, our education system does not always make that obvious. Students are often left with the frustrating sense of time wasted, feeling they will never use the skills they developed.
I avoid such bland presentation. Math to me is not a sequence of steps to memorize. It is so much more than algorithms and calculations. It is argumentation and logic. It is a type of poetry, a language that allows us to capture and process deep facts of life where our usual colloqial languages fall short. Performing mathematics is like cooking, and there is far more to cooking than recipes and utensils.
I have a unique passion and aptitude for mathematics, and I am always thrilled at the opportuity to channel that light.

In the first session, I generally establish the materials and the overall goal, for example, to cover a specific set of topics, raise a grade by a specific amount, complete a practice test booklet, etc.
We also take the first steps in establishing a routine, and addressing all technical aspects of meeting up, such as finding an ideal online meeting platform and working out any bugs.
As lessons progress, I learn as much as possible in order to adapt my instructional methods to the individual students' needs and interests.
