About Alexandra

I am an undergrad at the University of Illinois who studied math in high school through differential equations.

I tutored in math and writing in high school for two years for my peers.

Having self-studied many topics myself, I have a good understanding of what learning looks like from the student perspective distanced from the classroom.

Most importantly is understanding the student's motivations for seeking out tutoring. For some, it's simply to get a grade, but for others, there may be a greater goal of learning how to understand math in a way that makes sense for them. Starting out, this means that the student does most of the talking, walking me through the problem. This way I can understand how they think and tailor my teaching to their strengths. It is my job to interpret their thought process and help them apply skills to improve efficiency and accuracy. From fractions to trigonometry, most topics in math can be viewed from multiple perspectives.
