About Yiwen

Over two decades of teaching yoga, Yiwen taught thousands of students and mentored countless teachers in SF Bay Area. Her teaching, informed by years of training and experience, can best be described as methodical, disciplined, safe and sustainable. She is keen on the relationship of opposites and on the principles of anatomical alignment and movement. Yiwen is also an intuitive trained and certified in various healing modalities. In 2011, Yiwen followed her dream and built a yoga and healing center in SF Bay Area ((concealed information) At the end of 2016, Yiwen moved to Portland and founded YiwenYoga in May 2017. I have been practicing yoga and intuitive energy work for 30 years and teaching for 23 years. Not only have I had over thousands of training hours, I have also trained and mentored many yoga teachers over my long career as a teacher.

About the lesson

In a public class setting, I would look at the overall symmetry of a student and how the student initiates movement. That would give me huge clues about how to best guide the student where the integrity of the body and mind is restored.

In a private class setting, students typically have very specific issues to address. I would first examine the issues and target possible triggers to work with.

A good teacher serves as an excellent guide to a healthy life and motivates students to open doors of discovery.



I worked with students across a wide spectrum of demographics, as well as people recovering from surgeries and those suffering from chronic illness.



Work with a teacher who will give you "vegetables" as opposed to "sweets." In other words, what is best for us is often not something that allows for "instant gratification."



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I believe it is less about what the student needs to think through before talking to the teacher; I believe a good teacher has the skills to probe for relevant information from the student.
