I’m learning Hindustani Classical Vocal from Guruji Shri Kumar Mukherjee since 2014. Since I have started learning the craft since 1990 I have learnt from various other Gurus. I have learnt a lot from each of them there is no doubt, but when I started learning from Guruji, I felt why I didn’t find him earlier.
Even though we learn in group, Guruji is always very specific about each of our drawbacks and helps us work upon the same. Each student of Guruji gets individual attention even while learning in group. The improvement that I and audience notice in my singing after learning from him is a proof of those efforts. There are various intricacies of the craft which he helps us learn and improve on. Hindustani Vocal being a performing art it’s not limited to just learning the raag but also the presentation. He works on our overall presentation of the art as well. His regular evaluation helps us to learn as well as perform.
