About Christina

I help students deepen their commitment to their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Formally trained in Baptiste Vinyasa Power Flow, I tailor my sequences to the specific needs of my students and help make yoga accessible and fun. I am a professional photographer and world traveler who has been studying yoga for more than 20 years. I bring all of my life experience to my classroom.

I love connecting with students and helping them connect with themselves. I am passionate about bringing more patience, more grace, more poise, more love into the world, and my students and I accomplish that, one breath at a time. We use asanas (physical poses) to experience being in the body, along with breathwork, meditation, self inquiry.

After practicing yoga for 20 years, I signed up for teacher training to deepen my own practice. What I discovered was a powerful way to connect with others -- by helping them deepen their relationship to their own bodies, and create greater intentionality in their lives. I am now committed and motivated to share the gift of yoga with as many others as possible.

I am a Yoga Alliance certified instructor who has completed 200 hours of training in Baptiste Power Flow, and who has been practicing and studying yoga for more than 20 years. I have also taken many additional workshops to deepen my understanding in subjects ranging from subtle body energy, to inversions, to aromatherapy.

Prospective students and I start with a phone call to discuss what they are looking for and any questions they may have about my services. If we discover we'd be a good fit for each other, we then look at our schedules and figure out when, where, and how often we'll meet.

I have worked with students of all levels and age types. I teach a class with cats at the Anti-Cruelty Society, which requires adaptability to account for the unexpected, and to cater to students that range from first-time students to experienced yogis. I teach a class to recovering addicts, and another to at-risk high school students. I love that yoga is a universal language that can help us all connect with ourselves.

I would recommend that students do some self-inquiry to determine what they are looking for in a private yoga session, and then seek out instructors who have that to offer.

Just yesterday I had a tightly wound individual walk through my door who was resistant -- declaring he could not do yoga and was not flexible. I began the class with a short meditation, first helping him to relax by connecting to his breath. We then began a gentle vinyasa sequence, increasing the difficulty as we progressed. About 20 minutes into the class, he exclaimed "This feels incredible!" with an infectious excitement that spread to the rest of the class. I love helping students find what's possible in their lives.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students would benefit from reviewing practical considerations - including whether they would prefer to do the yoga lesson in their own home, or if they are willing to travel to the instructor's studio, how often they would like to have lessons, what style of yoga they might like, and how much they are willing to spend. If the student does not know their preferred style, they may benefit from pairing with an instructor that can guide them through different styles. If there is a specific need or and injury to be considered, this should be stated up front.
